MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City government is providing cash incentives to residents who turned or will turn 75 years old this month.
Mayor Herbert Bautista signed last Sept. 29 an ordinance seeking to give P7,500 cash to residents who turned 75 on Oct. 12 and P5,000 to those who are celebrating their 75th birthday this month. The ordinance was authored by Councilor Raquel Malangen.
The move was part of Quezon City’s founding anniversary celebration on Oct. 12.
“The elderly stand as pillars of strength, source of wisdom and inspiration and guardians of morality,” Malangen’s measure said.
The birthday celebrants will be given plaques or certificates of recognition.
The city’s office for senior citizens affairs will submit to the mayor a list of senior citizens qualified to receive the cash incentive.
The funds will be sourced from the city’s budget allocated for its diamond jubilee celebration.
