MMDA teams deployed to 11 flood-prone areas

MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) yesterday deployed flood control teams to 11 areas in the metropolis identified as prone to flooding.

MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said these are Julia Vargas (EDSA-Megamall) in Mandaluyong; España Boulevard and Pureza street in Manila; Scout Santiago street, Santolan Avenue and Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City; Gil Puyat extension; Osmena Highway (Makati-Manila area); Ayala tunnel, Makati Avenue and a stretch of C-5 Road.

Tolentino said the flood control teams were equipped with floating mobile pumps, submersible pumps and vacuum trucks to help assist in clearing floodwaters.

He said the agency’s five military trucks are on standby to help ferry stranded commuters.
