Man mistaken for burglar shot dead

MANILA, Philippines - A 52-year-old man was killed when he was reportedly mistaken for a burglar in Pandacan, Manila at past midnight yesterday.

Renato Robles was seen on the roof of one of the houses at the Guanzon Compound on San Luis street at around 12:15 a.m., according to homicide investigator Senior Police Officer 3 Glenzor Vallejo.

A witness said the residents thought Robles was a burglar when he tried to flee. The witness said they heard gunshots and saw Robles sprawled on the roof, bleeding.

Vallejo said they are still investigating who shot Robles and looking into the background of the victim, said to be a member of the jailhouse gang “Batang Sputnik.”
