DOJ summons Daliah, businessman in Enzo slay

Edu Punay - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Justice (DOJ) has summoned the widow of Ferdinand “Enzo” Pastor and her alleged businessman lover in connection with the killing of the international car racer last June.

Daliah Pastor – as spelled in her passport – and Domingo “Sandy” de Guzman were ordered to appear before the DOJ at 2 p.m. on Oct. 9.

Daliah and De Guzman have been charged with parricide and murder, respectively for the killing of Pastor in Quezon City on June 12.

The camp of De Guzman, however, filed a motion with the DOJ seeking to suspend the submission of his counter-affidavit.

Dennis Manalo, lawyer for the businessman, asked the DOJ investigating panel chaired by Assistant State Prosecutor Susan Villanueva to first summon Paolo Salazar, Pastor’s assistant who was wounded in the attack, and probers of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

The DOJ proceeded with the preliminary investigation of Daliah and De Guzman after indicting self-confessed gunman Police Officer 2 Edgar Angel, who tagged the two as the brains in the killing.

Angel, a member of the Pasay police, later recanted his statement.

De Guzman and Angel are in police custody while Daliah remains at large.

While no hold-departure order has been issued against Daliah, she can still be prevented from leaving the country while the DOJ is conducting preliminary investigation, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said earlier.

The hearing on the charges against Daliah and De Guzman was initially set for Monday, but it was declared a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha,  the Muslim Feast of Sacrifice.
