New PNP spokesman named

MANILA, Philippines - Superintendent Wilben Mayor was named yesterday as the new chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s Public Information Office, replacing Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac.

The PNP said Sindac was reassigned as director of the Logistics Support Services.

Mayor, former spokesman of PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima, will assume his new post on Sept. 29.

Sindac said the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management informed him about his reassignment, which had been rumored since last week.

He has served as PNP public information chief since June 10, 2010.

Sindac, who has three years left in the police service, welcomed his reassignment as “career advancement.”
