Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Robbers took the car of a television reporter outside his home in Quezon City Thursday afternoon.

Jeff Caparas of TV5 said he parked his black Honda Civic with license plate TNT-673 at the corner of Timog Avenue and 11th Jamboree Street in Barangay South Triangle at around 4:30 p.m.

When he checked the car at past 5 p.m., it was nowhere to be found.

Caparas’ car was later found abandoned in a nearby barangay, police said.

Superintendent Limuel Obon, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 10, said several items were stolen from the car.

These included two pairs of sunglasses, an audio system, a pair of rubber shoes and a spare tire, among others.

Police said they received a call from officials of Barangay Sacred Heart about an abandoned car at the corner of Scout Rallos and Scout Ybardolaza streets at around 7 a.m. yesterday.

The car’s window had been smashed, police said.

Another TV5 reporter, Mara Dimailig, was robbed in Barangay Sikatuna on Wednesday night.

Dimailig said she lost a bag containing two cell phones and P30,000 cash.

She said she was walking along Malingap Street when a man and a woman on a motorcycle appeared from behind.

One of the suspects grabbed her bag and fled.
