2 jeepney heist suspects slain

MANILA, Philippines – Two alleged robbers were slain by responding policemen following a jeepney heist in Payatas, Quezon City at past midnight yesterday.

The passengers of a jeepney driven by Michael Adel were robbed by five suspects, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Superintendent Richard Albano said.

Three passengers and Adel went to the QCPD Station 6 following the robbery and a follow-up operation ensued.

Policemen spotted two of the five suspects and one of them was carrying a red shoulder bag owned by one of the passengers.

The lawmen introduced themselves but were allegedly ignored by the two suspects, who shot at the lawmen and triggered a gun battle, Albano said.
