P.3-M reward offered for law professor’s killers

Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A P300,000 reward has been offered for the capture of the killers of a law professor of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), who was ambushed in Sta. Ana, Manila last March.

The reward was offered yesterday by relatives and friends of Pedro Clinton Laudencia, a lawyer for the San Miguel Brewery Inc. and president of Promoprint Corp.

Laudencia was attacked along Bergonia street in New Panaderos by two motorcycle-riding men last March 26, as he and his wife were on their way to Quezon City.

Jake Telan, counsel for the victim’s family, told The STAR that they have been contemplating offering a reward since April.

“Nothing has come up yet because several cases had overshadowed my client’s ambush. We are hoping, through this the public could help solve the case,” Telan said.

The Manila Police District (MPD) had started investigating the case when the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) took over a few weeks later, upon the request of the victim’s son.

A source at the MPD said they have been following a lead pertaining to money matters when the NBI took over.

Telan said Laudencia married Lilia Morales, a former girlfriend, in April 2013, two years after his first wife passed away.

The source said the couple was set to meet Laudencia’s banker when the gunmen waylaid them.

“We were looking into the victim’s relation with his second wife when the NBI took over the case. She has children from two previous relationships and a boyfriend before she married Laudencia,” the source said.

The same source said some individuals were questioning Laudencia’s banker for the way he was handling the lawyer’s money.
