Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Two Manila Police District policemen were charged yesterday for reportedly robbing an MPD “striker” in Ermita Sunday morning.

Alex Llamas, 44, who runs errands for the MPD’s district intelligence division, filed a complaint with the MPD general assignment and investigation section against Police Officer 2 Ranilo Vital and Police Officer 1 Joel Morales, both assigned at the MPD Station 5 in Ermita.

Llamas said he was walking at the corner of Adriatico and Salas street at around 1 a.m. when the two police officers accosted him.

The victim said he introduced himself and showed his identification card but the policemen handcuffed him, took his cell phone and P3,000, and told him that he would only be released if they keep the money.

Llamas said he learned the name of the suspects through their personal data sheets, which were shown to him.  Senior Police Officer 1 Marlon Anonuevo said the erring policemen escaped during an operation to arrest them.
