MANILA, Philippines - Starting today, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will apprehend provincial buses whose drivers will go beyond their route at the South Interim Terminal in Alabang, Muntinlupa.
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino, in his weekly program over dzBB, said the Metro Manila Council has been given the go signal to apprehend out of line buses.
Buses from Southern Tagalog are no longer allowed to enter Metro Manila following the opening of the Alabang terminal, Tolentino said.
A fine of P1 million will be imposed on operators of erring buses.
Earlier, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board chief Winston Ginez ordered LTFRB executive director Roberto Cabrera III to implement a joint administrative order with the Land Transportation Office on the establishment of temporary transport terminals for buses and Asian utility vehicles plying provincial routes.
The Alabang terminal serves as endpoint for provincial buses using the South Luzon Expressway.
Tolentino said the North Interim Terminal in Monumento, Caloocan City will open next month.
