Another MPD station chief sacked

Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Another station commander of the Manila Police District (MPD) was removed from his post Friday for being remiss in the campaign against crime, an official said yesterday.

Superintendent  Rizalino Padrique of the MPD Station 4 in Sampaloc became the fourth police official to be relieved since the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) started grading the performance of its 38 chiefs of police starting June 16.

NCRPO chief Director Carmelo Valmoria confirmed the relief of Padrique, who was immediately put on floating status at the MPD.

According to Valmoria, it was MPD director Chief Superintendent Rolando Asuncion who relieved Padrique.

“I’ve given my five police district directors the leeway to relieve chiefs of police who are not working in accordance with our rules and regulations in curbing crimes in Metro Manila,” said Valmoria.

Interior Secretary Mar Roxas has given Valmoria the blanket authority in relieving police officials who failed to curb crimes their areas of responsibilities.

Since last week, Valmoria has relieved Caloocan City police chief Senior Superintendent Bernard Tambaoan and Pasay City police chief Senior Superintendent Florencio Ortilla for allegedly tampering with crime statistics, while Superintendent Luis Francisco of the MPD Station 11 was sacked for not implementing the regular checkpoint operations.

Valmoria warned the NCRPO’s 38 police chiefs that he would not hesitate to relieve those who fail to curb crimes in their jurisdictions as his grading system entered its 10th week today.

Padrique will be replaced by Superintendent Mannan Muarip, former chief of the MPD Station 9. Muarip’s post will be taken over by Superintendent Romeo Orada, formerly with the MPD’s headquarters support unit.
