BOC to auction off P299-M smuggled rice

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is set to auction off on Thursday some P299 million worth of smuggled rice that arrived at the Manila International Container Port (MICP).

The BOC will auction off six rice shipments, four of which were reportedly consigned to the firm Bold Bidder Marketing. The shipments arrived in October and November 2013.

Last February, Bold Bidder was one of five firms tagged by Customs Commissioner John Sevilla as among those reportedly involved in rice smuggling.

The other shipments were reportedly consigned to San Carlos Multi Purpose Cooperative and Jade Bros. Farm and Livestock, Inc.
