Cops probe car exec’s death in shootout

Perseus Echeminada - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Parañaque police is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a car sales executive in an alleged running gun battle that began in B.F. Homes, Parañaque and ended in Talon, Las Piñas Thursday night, an official said yesterday.

Parañaque police chief Senior Superintendent Ariel Andrade said investigators are waiting for the findings by crime scene investigators and the results of the autopsy on the body of Timothy James Alon.

He said Police Officer 1 Kheven Lein, who was reporting for work at the Muntinlupa police, was nearly hit by a Mitsubishi Montero with plate number UZI-388, which was swerving along Aguirre Avenue in B.F. Homes.

Lein sought the help of police officers patrolling the area, Andrade said. However, Alon allegedly sped away.

“A general alarm was raised and all available mobile (patrol teams) responded,” Andrade said.

Alon reportedly shot at the lawmen pursuing him during the 30-minute chase. He hit at least five vehicles along the way, Andrade said.

He alleged that Alon had two companions, who were able to escape before lawmen caught up with the vehicle.

Alon suffered three gunshot wounds in the head and various parts of the body. Police officers reported finding a .45 caliber pistol and a sachet of suspected shabu in the car driven by Alon.
