Head of homeowners’ group shot dead in Caloocan
MANILA, Philippines - Police have launched a manhunt for two motorcycle-riding men who shot dead the president of a homeowners’ association in Camarin, Caloocan City last Friday.
Ereneo Constanti, 55, was attending to his vulcanizing shop along Doña street when the assailants arrived on a motorcycle and shot him at close range, acting Caloocan police chief Senior Superintendent Ariel Arcinas said.
Constanti died at the scene from gunshot wounds in the head, police said.
Arcinas said the gunmen escaped after seeing the victim sprawled on the ground.
Investigators are eyeing personal grudge as the motive for the killing.
Arcinas said the assailants could be hired guns.
“We will dig deeper into the case. We will look at his activities as president of the homeowners association and his business dealings,” he said.
Police said there were no CCTVs in the area where the shooting occurred. But the victim’s son, who was inside the shop when Constanti was attacked, could help police identify the killers.
