Bomb scare disrupts FEU exams
MANILA, Philippines - A bomb scare yesterday morning disrupted the exam week of Far Eastern University (FEU) in Manila, with “naughty students” eyed as the ones behind the prank.
“Based on our experience, the scare was caused by naughty students, particularly during exam week. They either did not study or pay the tuition,” said Inspector Arnold Santos, head of Manila Police District’s bomb squad.
According to Santos, about 8 a.m., security guard Raul Banjawan received a text message telling him there would be bombs exploding at FEU.
Banjawan relayed the information to his superior, who in turn, reported to the police. When police officers arrived at FEU, the owner opted to suspend classes.
Santos and his team searched each room in the university from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. but the threat turned out to be a hoax.
“I asked Banjawan if any students knew his cell phone number. He said there were some,” Santos said.
The FEU bomb scare happened a day after the preliminary exams week of University of Santo Tomas was also affected by a similar threat.
