600 families in QC up for relocation

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City Council has approved a measure for the relocation of more than 600 informal settler families to pave the way for a road-widening project.

“Quezon City agrees to undertake the removal of 628 informal settler families (subject to rules prescribed under Republic Act 7279) and the structures that will be affected by the improvement of IBP Road,” read the resolution.

The Department of Public Works and Highways will undertake the widening of IBP Road near the Batasan Complex as soon as the affected families have been relocated.

The city government said the relocation of the informal settler families will be in compliance with the Urban Development and Housing Act of 1992.

Tadeo Palma, secretary to the mayor, said they plan to implement the relocation this year.
