MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has activated Task Force Kapayapaan to secure President Aquino’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasan Pambansa complex in Quezon City on July 28.
NCRPO chief Director Carmelo Valmoria said yesterday they are not only securing the Batasan Pambansa complex but also other traditional rally areas such as the Chino Roces Bridge, the US embassy and vital government and private installations.
According to Valmoria, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) under Chief Superintendent Richard Albano would play a key role in their security operations.
He did not disclose though the number of police officers to be deployed but said they will be enough to “cover all areas, especially along Commonwealth Avenue and its neighboring communities.”
Police intelligence agents are closely monitoring the activities of left-leaning organizations who are expected to stage a series of protest rallies starting today until next Monday, Valmoria said.
