Perseus Echeminada - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A man was arrested for taking his three-year-old grandson hostage for two hours in Taguig City Saturday night, an official said yesterday.

Rodrigo Perez, 48, took his grandson hostage at knifepoint near the barangay hall of Lower Bicutan, claiming some men were after him, according to Southern Police District director Chief Superintendent Jose Erwin Villacorte.

Investigators are checking whether he was high on drugs at the time of the hostage-taking.

After two hours of talking with police officers, Perez released his grandson. The suspect is being held at the Taguig City police station.
