Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A policeman killed one of three men who tried to grab his motorcycle in Pasig City Saturday.

The unidentified robber died on the scene from a gunshot wound in the chest.

Police Officer 1 Carlo Ambrocio, 29, assigned at the National Capital Region Police Office’s Regional Public Safety Battalion, surrendered to Pasig City policemen who responded to the incident.

Ambrocio – wearing civilian clothes – was riding his black Suzuki Skydrive to work in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City when he noticed three men standing beside an electric post at the corner of Kaligayahan and Kaalinsabay streets in Barangay Manggahan at around 9:45 p.m. Saturday, Pasig police chief Senior Superintendent Mario Rariza said.

The three men blocked Ambrocio’s path and one of them grabbed Ambrocio’s motorcycle at gunpoint. Ambrocio alighted from his motorcycle, pulled out his service firearm, identified himself as a policeman and asked the robbers to surrender, Rariza said.

The robber who held the handgun shot at Ambrocio but missed. Ambrocio retaliated, killing the robber while the two other assailants escaped.

Senior Inspector Reagan Joksi of the Scene of the Crime Operatives office recovered a 9mm pistol with five bullets from the slain robber and two spent shells at the crime scene.

Meanwhile, another Suzuki Skydrive (plate number 3471-XP) was stolen as it was parked in front of the house of its owner, Mark Gaboy, 28, Saturday morning. – With Rainier Allan Ronda
