Court allows hospitalization for massacre suspect

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A Quezon City judge has allowed for the third time this year a hospital checkup for a suspect in the Maguindanao massacre who is complaining of pain in his genitals.

In an order released Friday, Regional Trial Court Branch 221 Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes ordered Quezon City Jail-Annex warden Superintendent Reuben Olivo to immediately transport suspect Police Officer 3 Alex Daquilos to the Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City.

Daquilos, through his lawyer Gennodin Nilong, asked permission of the court as he needs to undergo a repeat transrectal ultrasound.

After the checkup, Solis-Reyes ordered Olivo to immediately return Daquilos to the Quezon City Jail Annex at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.

She also ordered Nilong to immediately furnish the court with a copy of the result of the examination.

In May, Solis-Reyes allowed the suspect to undergo ultrasound after he was found to have an “epidydimal cyst” in his genitals.

The judge also allowed him in March to undergo a medical checkup as he is suffering from varicocoele bilateral, an illness described as a prostate disorder of the spermatic cord that causes a soft and painful swelling.
