Burglars tunnel into bank in QC

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Burglars broke into a bank along Roosevelt Avenue in Quezon City on Friday night by digging a tunnel from a roadside canal.

But the alarm of the bank went off, scaring off the burglars, who fled empty-handed, according to Superintendent Pedro Sanchez, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 2.

The bank’s automated teller machine and the steel vault were untouched.

Police Officer 2 Roldan Cornejo said the burglars dug a tunnel from a roadside canal to the floor of the bank. They used a hydraulic jack, crowbars, screwdrivers and a hand drill to gain entry, he added.
