Thief steals car with ‘sensitive’ alarm

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A car thief allegedly took off with an Asian utility vehicle that was equipped with a “sensitive” alarm system in front of its owner’s house in Quezon City.

Senior Inspector Rolando Lorenzo Jr., head of the Quezon City Police District’s Anti-Car Theft Section, said no one saw the actual taking of the satin silver Isuzu Sportivo (UOL-693), in Barangay Sacred Heart Thursday.

Owner Maria Cristinia Montoya claimed the vehicle was taken at past 5 a.m. while it was parked outside their house on Fuentebella Extension.

Montoya said she was preparing breakfast for her children when she heard the engine of the vehicle running.

Lorenzo said the complainant told investigators the vehicle has been equipped with a “sensitive security alarm system” since they bought it in December 2013.

Lorenzo said none of the neighbors interviewed by the police saw the incident. There was also no surveillance camera installed in the area.
