Ex-cop, Manila’s most wanted, arrested
MANILA, Philippines - A former Manila policeman, wanted for allegedly leading a gang whose members rob foreigners in Metro Manila, was arrested in Paco, Manila Monday.
Reggie Dominguez, who held the rank of Police Officer 1 when he was dismissed from the police force in 2012, did not resist arrest when he was cornered by members of the Regional Public Safety Battalion of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) at his partner’s house. The team was led by Senior Police Officer 2 Allan Lanado.
NCRPO chief Director Carmelo Valmoria said Dominguez was listed as Manila’s most wanted and Metro Manila’s third most wanted fugitive.
Chief Inspector Arsenio Riparip, head of the Manila Police District’s general assignment section, said Dominguez has reportedly robbed at least 10 foreigners.
Valmoria said Dominguez has pending arrest warrants for robbery with homicide, robbery-extortion, and illegal possession of firearms.
Among the crimes attributed to him in Manila alone were extorting money from Japanese tourist Nobuo Yamazaki on June 17; robbing American Adam Miller of $4,000 on May 17 and Lebanese Kaseem Ghorbis of money and gadgets in June last year.
According to Valmoria, Dominguez’s group was also behind the rash of robberies involving motorcycle-riding men in Manila and its neighboring areas.
