MANILA, Philippines - Burglars broke into a bank along EDSA over the weekend but managed to take only two 9mm pistols left behind by the bank’s security guards.
The bank’s vault remained intact as employees discovered the burglary when they noticed a hole in the ceiling when they reported for work at past 8 a.m. yesterday, said Superintendent Osmundo de Guzman, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 1.
Investigators believe the burglars enterd through a window in the pantry and made the hole to get at the bank vault.
De Guzman said an alarm was raised from the bank and detected by the bank’s security personnel at past 9 a.m. on Sunday. It was possible the burglary happened at this time, but when security personnel checked the bank, they did not find anything unusual, he said.
Security personnel also checked that night and noticed that the bank had no electricity supply.
