NBI agent hurt in robbery
MANILA, Philippines - An agent of the National Bureau of Investigation was wounded after he tried to fight off three robbers in Quezon City on Wednesday night.
Teodoro Guevara, 54, was stabbed in the forearm and chest while bystander Anthony Pangyarihan was hit in the chest by a stray bullet when one of the robbers fired Guevara’s gun, Quezon City Police District Station 3 commander Superintendent Ariel Capocao said.
Guevara was going into a bus near a gasoline station along EDSA in Balintawak at past 6 p.m. when a man grabbed his gold necklace worth P70,000, investigators said.
Guevara got off the bus to get back his jewelry, but was met by two men who lunged at him, stabbing him in the right forearm and chest.
Capocao said Guevara managed to pull out his Smith and Wesson Magnum .357 revolver, but one of the robbers grabbed it before all three assailants crossed to the other side of EDSA.
Guevara chased the robbers, but the one carrying his gun shot at him. The robber missed and hit Pangyarihan instead, Capocao said.
