Man wanted for killing ex-girlfriend, parents falls

MANILA, Philippines - A man wanted for killing his former girlfriend and her parents in Navotas two years ago was arrested in Olongapo City Thursday morning.

Jiji Amar, reportedly carrying two pistols, shot dead Joce-lyn Denolan and her parents, Cecilio and Rosa, in their house at around 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 13, 2012. There were also reports that he shot at people in the neighborhood before escaping.

The suspect was brought to Navotas Friday to face the charges for complex crime of murder and infanticide.

Navotas police chief Senior Superintedent Conrado Gongon Jr. told The STAR that Amar reportedly became angry when he learned that Jocelyn was six months pregnant by another man after they separated because Jocelyn’s parents rejected him.

It was unclear why Cecilio, a former traffic enforcer, and Rosa rejected Amar.

The suspect, however, vowed that he would not allow Jocelyn to be with another man, investigators reported.

Gongon said the warrant for Amar’s arrest was issued by the Malabon Regional Trial Court Branch 74 only last month and they worked on the case after receiving information that Amar was hiding at a relative’s house in Olongapo.
