Man arrested for raping teen he met on FB

MANILA, Philippines - A man was arrested in Quezon City over the weekend for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl he met on Facebook.

Arnel Pascual, 36, was arrested after he tried inviting the teenager to another tryst at a hotel, said Superintendent Eleazar Matta, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 6.

Matta said Pascual was arrested in an entrapment after the teenager complained that he had raped her.

Pascual – who used the name David Mendoza – and the teenager met on Feb. 14 through Facebook, Matta said.

Even if the suspect did not have any profile picture, the teenager agreed to meet him on April 17 at a fastfood restaurant along Commonwealth Avenue.

According to Matta, the teenager was eventually convinced to go to a motel for a “massage,” where the suspect allegedly raped her.

Last Sunday, the suspect sent a text message to the girl, saying he wanted to meet her again at a hotel to have sex.

One of the girl’s relatives accidentally saw the text message and confronted the teenager, who said she was supposed to meet the man that day.

Matta said the teenager’s family sought help from village watchmen, who hid as the girl met the suspect near the Commission on Audit building.
