Korean loses wallet, cell phone to child thieves

MANILA, Philippines - A Korean lost his wallet and cell phone to street children who gathered around him and his girlfriend when they were out on a date in Manila at past midnight Saturday.

Yeonkyung Jin, 27, field a complaint with the Manila Police District’s general assignment section after the incident.

Jin told police he and his girlfriend were waiting for a taxi along Adriatico street in Malate at around 2 a.m. Saturday when a group of children crowded  around them, selling flowers and begging for alms.

After the children left, Jin said he noticed that his wallet – which contained $500 and P2,000 as well as identification papers – and his cell phone were missing.
