Manila cop sues boss for scolding him

Rainier Allan Ronda - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A Manila policeman filed a complaint against his superior yesterday for scolding him when he tried to clarify an order for him to remove street vendors from a portion of Pedro Gil street.

Police Officer 3 Erickson Fernandez, 34, filed his complaint against his superior, Pedro Gil precinct commander Senior Inspector Robert Bunayog with the Manila Police District Station 5 and the MPD’s general assignment section.

In his complaint, Fernandez said Bunayog had ordered him to clear vendors from Pedro Gil street and arrest a woman wearing a red shirt.

Fernandez said that he was able to comply with the order to turn away the vendors but when he mentioned that there were a number of women wearing a red shirt, Bunayog cursed at him and told to leave the service and remove his uniform.

To avoid a confrontation, Fernandez said he decided to leave and simply file a complaint against Bunayog.

Bunayog, upon learning of the complaint, has reportedly threatened to file a complaint against Fernandez for insubordination.
