Cop killed in road mishap

MANILA, Philippines - A 43-year-old police officer was killed after he was hit by a speeding car in Barangay 177, Caloocan City at past midnight yesterday.

Police Officer 3 Edgardo Macogue, a member of the Quezon City police mobile patrol unit, was crossing Zabarte Road in front of the W-Grill restaurant when a Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Mark Anthony Posadas reportedly hit him at around 1 a.m.

The victim was rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center but he was pronounced dead an hour later.

Posadas was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
