Drug, malicious mischief charges filed vs rapper

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City prosecutor’s office has recommended the filing of charges against rapper Joey Amoto, also known as Black Jack, for allegedly causing a scene in an apartelle last week.

Inquest Prosecutor Alessandro Jurado recommended the filing of drug charges before the regional trial court against Amoto, 44, after a strip of aluminum foil that contained traces of shabu was found on his person.

The prosecutor also recommended that Amoto be charged with malicious mischief before the metropolitan trial court after he allegedly trashed a house beside the Tizza Apartelle in Cubao on June 2.

Jurado recommended a bail of P40,000 for the drug case, and another P2,000 for the malicious mischief.

Police officers arrested Amoto after he allegedly destroyed the aluminum screen door and wooden door of the house beside the apartelle.

The rapper supposedly went berserk when the apartelle’s security guard tried to prevent him from entering a room as he was not booked there. Reports said Amoto, who was drunk when he arrived at the scene, was looking for a woman.
