Professor found dead in apartment

Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A 60-year old professor was found dead in his third-floor apartment in Caloocan City Saturday night.

The body of Renato Ressureccion was found on the sofa, clad only in his shorts and facing the television, by police officers who forced the apartment door open at around 7:30 p.m.

Diomedes Acebuche, a neighbor who lives on the same floor as the professor, said he arrived at around 5:30 p.m. and smelled a foul odor. When he received no response after knocking on Ressureccion’s door, he alerted authorities.

Police officers said Ressureccion may have been dead for several days. Acebuche and other neighbors said they last saw the professor alive on Tuesday afternoon.

University of Caloocan City president Cesar Chavez said there were reports Ressureccion had been suffering from tuberculosis. He was supposed to report to UCC to get his teaching load on Wednesday but never showed up, Chavez said.
