2 alleged ABB-RPA ex-members slain in Muntinlupa

MANILA, Philippines - Two men, reported to be former members of the urban hit squad Alex Boncayao Brigade-Revolutionary Proletarian Army (ABB-RPA), were gunned down at a public market in Alabang, Muntinlupa City Tuesday night.

George Acero and Romeo Daclas reportedly turned to extorting money from market vendors, according to Southern Police District director Chief Superintendent Jose Erwin Villacorte.

The victims were standing at the market near Montillano Street at around 6:30 p.m. when two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle shot at them repeatedly. One assailant wore a full-face helmet while the other wore a cap, police said.

The two men died while being treated at the Ospital ng Muntinlupa, according to police.

Investigators are looking for closed-circuit television camera footage of the shooting that could help them identify the gunmen.

They are also determining possible motives for the shooting.
