MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is investigating reports that chemicals were stored in the Quezon City warehouse whose collapsed wall killed two persons last week.
In a recent interview, PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. said they would like to verify these reports and if true, they would like to find out if any of these chemicals were controlled substances.
PDEA-National Capital Region director Jacquelin de Guzman said they will coordinate with the Quezon City government once its personnel, particularly those from the city engineering office and the building officials, are able to inspect the premises of the warehouse.
Two persons – Norma Magada and Robin Leuterio – were crushed by debris from the fallen wall at the warehouse of LG Atkimson in Barangay Masambong on Monday night. The collapsed wall also damaged six parked jeepneys.
Magada and her husband, Reynaldo, had just finished dinner on top of the hood of one of the jeepneys, which they also use as a makeshift house, when the wall suddenly collapsed.
Leuterio, on the other hand, was the driver of one of the jeepneys.
