MANILA, Philippines - Two Quezon City councilors have proposed an ordinance banning the establishment of stalls along walkways in malls and other buildings.
“Walkways in malls are designed to give customers, shoppers or occupants convenient passageway,†said Councilors Ranulfo Ludovica and Alexis Herrera in their proposal.
“The provision for walkways in malls is a precautionary measure in case of fire, earthquake and other natural or man-made calamities,†they added.
The councilors said stalls along walkways violate the building code permit issued by the city government as these are often not included in the approved architectural plan submitted to the city building office.
