2 dead in QC crash

MANILA, Philippines - Two men who fell off a motorcycle died after they were hit by an oncoming trailer truck along Payatas Road, Quezon City Thursday night.

Ricardo Pontenoza Jr. and Ely Tinio, both 28, died on the scene, Police Officer 2 Allan Florendo said.

An investigation found that the victims tried to overtake a truck in front of them when they hit a gutter and lost their balance. The victims landed around four meters away from their motorcycle on the opposite lane, in the path of the trailer truck driven by Cress Igong-Igong, 26.

Igong-Igong said he did not notice the victims lying on the road until it was too late.
