Erap sets deadline for kuliglig, trike registration

MANILA, Philippines - Owners of kuliglig or motorized pedicabs and tricycles operating in Manila have one week to have their vehicles registered or face sanctions, Mayor Joseph Estrada said yesterday.

“They have to get the franchise or their vehicles will be impounded. They will also face fines,” Estrada told The STAR after meeting with kuliglig and tricycle operators.

He said he also told the operators that the city government will strictly enforce the ordinance banning kuliglig and tricycles on major roads, but “they will be allowed to use side streets all over Manila.”

Estrada said he will target public utility jeepneys next month.
