Factory worker hangs self

Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A 22-year-old factory worker earlier caught stealing coins from a vendo machine committed suicide in Valenzuela City yesterday morning.

Bryan Pedravita hanged himself at a vacant house along Morning Ville in Barangay Canumay, police said.

Police said the suicide was found hanging by Veronica Asuncion at around 5:30 a.m.

Valenzuela police chief Senior Superintendent Rhoderick Armamento ruled out foul play in Pedravita’s death.

Armamento said a certain Anna, owner of a coffee vendo machine inside the factory where Pedravita was working, on Monday caught him stealing coins from the machine.

Anna reported the incident to the police but declined to press charges. However, Pedravita was denied entry to the factory on Tuesday night and eventually lost his job, prompting him to end his life.

Meanwhile, a man was found dead inside his house in Marulas, Valenzuela City yesterday.

Police have yet to establish the cause of death of Joel Cavanero, 34, whose body was in a state of decomposition when discovered by his sister and barangay watchmen.
