1 dead, 1 hurt in QC shooting

MANILA, Philippines - One man was killed and another man was wounded in a shooting in Quezon City at past midnight yesterday.

Unidentified assailants shot pedicab driver Michael Bersamin, 37, along Samonte Road in Barangay Holy Spirit at around 1 a.m., police said.

Renato Calanao was hurt in the shooting and is undergoing treatment, according to police.

One of the assailants – clad in a shirt, cap and shorts – sped away on a motorcycle.

Investigators from the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit recovered two .45 caliber bullet shells from the crime scene.

They have yet to determine the motive for the attack by checking eyewitness accounts and getting Calanao’s testimony.
