Worker poisons supervisor at food outlet

MANILA, Philippines - A food handler was arrested yesterday after he poisoned his supervisor, bludgeoned him and hid his body in the restroom of a grilled chicken outlet in Valenzuela City.

Remcy Flores, 26, was caught in Balagtas, Bulacan. He admitted to pouring silver cleaner in the drink of Leonardo Baris, 32, saying he was “only waiting for an opportunity to get even” with his supervisor at Mang Bok’s store in Malanday.

He told police he hit Baris with a fire extinguisher as he went into a seizure from the poison, then stuffed the victim’s body into a box and put it in the restroom with the help of his 17-year-old former boyfriend and his friends, identified only as Jay-Ar and Pao-Pao. The three accomplices were later arrested.

Flores said they divided the store’s earnings, which Baris was supposed to remit, as well as the victim’s belongings.

Valenzuela police chief Senior Superintendent Rhoderick Armamento said Pao-Pao led them to Flores’ hideout.
