Car with bandoliers, bullets abandoned in QC
MANILA, Philippines - Police officers are investigating the case of a car full of ammunition, which had been abandoned in front of a posh subdivision in Quezon City, an official said yesterday.
The grey Honda Accord (WCG-233) recovered at the gate of Blue Ridge Subdivision was carrying bandoliers with four long magazines for an M16 rifle, said Superintendent Ronnie Montejo, commander of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Public Safety Battalion. Each magazine carried 30 bullets.
The parked car was reported to the police only on Monday morning but according to guards at the subdivision, the car had been parked there since April 30, said Superintendent Danilo Pecana, commander of the QCPD Station 8.
Village councilman Rey Papa of Barangay Blue Ridge noticed the car and the ammunition while he was walking, Pecana said.
A team of bomb experts went to the site and checked the car for explosives but found nothing.
Pecana said the Accord is registered to a woman named Elizabeth Chen, who does not appear to be a resident of Blue Ridge Subdivision. He said they were still looking for the registered owner of the abandoned car.
