FDA warns vs alkaline water devices

Sheila Crisostomo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) yesterday warned the public against “false, deceptive and misleading claims” regarding alkaline water and water purification devices.

FDA director general Kenneth Hartigan-Go said no clinical studies support claims made by the advertiser of Izumi 5P Antioxidant Alkaline Water Ionizer.

“Drinking alkaline water or ionized water does not change the blood pH level or remove every known chronic disease or condition,” he said.

Go noted that the device is not registered with the FDA Center for Device Regulation, Radiation Health and Research.
