Boy found floating in Malabon River

MANILA, Philippines - The body of a boy was found floating in the Malabon River yesterday moring.

Police officers are still trying to identify the victim, believed to be between the ages of seven and eight. The body was bloated and rescuers said they believe the boy had been in the water for days.

A source at the Malabon city hall told The STAR that the victim could be one of the two boys reported missing during a fire in Tonsuya last Sunday.

He said there were reports that the boys jumped into the river at the height of the fire to save themselves.

Malabon public information chief Bong Padua said the city’s rescue team had been coordinating with barangay officials and nearby cities to locate the boy’s family.
