MANILA, Philippines - A member of the Taguig City government’s Public Order And Safety Office (POSO) was wounded and his wife was killed when three unidentified men shot them along Road 8 in Barangay Lower Bicutan yesterday morning.
Gil Maravilla, 51, was grazed by a bullet in the right shoulder while his wife, Yolanda, 48, died of a gunshot wound in the chest at the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital.
Initial investigation showed that Gil was driving a tricycle on their way to the market at about 5:15 a.m. when they were attacked.
Police said the bullet that grazed Gil was the one that hit his wife, who was seated behind him in the driver’s seat.
According to police, Gil, after he was shot, was still alert and drove the tricycle to the hospital.
Investigators believe the shooting may be linked to Gil’s membership with the city government’s POSO.
