Jobs, free rides await workers on Labor Day

MANILA, Philippines - Jobs and free rides await workers and jobseekers on May 1, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said yesterday.

Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said the government is preparing for simultaneous job fairs as part of celebrations for Labor Day.

“The DOLE is finalizing its job fairs in 16 regions to provide employment opportunities to jobseekers, including new graduates as well as returning and displaced overseas Filipino workers,” she said.

Baldoz said all workers can avail themselves of free MRT rides on May 1.

 Under the Department of Transportation and Communication guidelines, all public and private workers can avail themselves of free MRT rides from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Workers should just present their company IDs and log their names with the security guard assigned at the MRT stations before they are issued boarding passes.
