2 boys attack Australian over pedicab fare
MANILA, Philippines - Two teenage boys armed with makeshift knives were arrested in Ermita, Manila on Tuesday for attempting to kill an Australian man over pedicab fare.
The boys, age 16 and 17, are detained at the Manila Police District (MPD) General Assignment Section and will be charged with grave threats before the city prosecutor’s office.
Bryan Paul Curleg and his wife reportedly hired the boys in Malate, Manila, and asked to be brought to a barbershop on United Nations Avenue for P40.
When they reached the place at about 10:30 a.m., however, the boys started demanding P140.
Barangay watchman Norberto Agaajo said Curleg ran when one of the boys lunged at him with a knife. Agaajo, who was on foot patrol, said he saw the chase and pursued the boys.
He caught the boys and brought them to the MPD headquarters.
