2 men die in train mishaps

MANILA, Philippines - Two men, including an employee of the Department of Energy (DOE), died after a train rammed them in two separate incidents in Manila.

Ricardo Balanque, 47, of Pandacan, was crossing the tracks along Quirino Avenue when the train hit him at around 6:30 p.m., Senior Police Officer 1 Gene Reyes said. Balanque died 14 hours later.

The second victim, Jordan de Jesus of the DOE, was crossing the tracks along G. Tuazon street in Sampaloc when he was hit by two trains, going in opposite directions, at around 8:30 p.m. His body was dismembered, Senior Police Officer 2 Rey Fernandez said.
