2 killed in Tondo riot
MANILA, Philippines - Two persons were killed in a riot in Tondo, Manila Friday afternoon.
Glen Aguilar, 25, and 16-year-old Jerome Ricalde died of stab wounds in a riot that involved their relatives, Senior Police Officer 1 Mario Asilo said.
The cause of the riot, which started in front of Parola Compound’s Gate 7 at past 1 p.m., was unclear, Asilo said.
Witnesses said Aguilar, who was armed with a knife, chased Ricalde in front of Gate 7. When Ricalde was cornered, Aguilar stabbed him several times.
Ricalde’s relatives ran to his rescue and cornered Aguilar, stabbing him repeatedly, Asilo said.
Aguilar died on the scene while Ricalde was declared dead on arrival at the Gat Andres Bonifacio Medical Center.
The bodies of Aguilar and Ricalde will be autopsied, Asilo said.
