MANILA, Philippines - An alleged leader of a kidnap gang operating in Zamboanga and two of his reported members were arrested in Parañaque City Wednesday.
Mamay Aburi and Moin Dunggan and a third suspect, who was not identified, were in a “black Isuzu Trooper traveling along a road in Barangay San Antonio… when they were arrested†by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by a court in Zamboanga Sibugay, Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group anti-organized crime unit said.
A grenade was confiscated from the three men, he added.
Aburi and Dunggan were among the most wanted persons in Western Mindanao for a series of kidnappings in Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga City.
Tagum said Aburi’s group was linked to at least six kidnappings, including that of an Australian, and the killing of 12 fishermen.
During interrogation, Tagum said Aburi claimed they are members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
