MANILA, Philippines - A teenager was killed by a security guard who reportedly caught him stealing electric cables at a school in Quezon City yesterday.
Fourteen-year-old Melvin Dulo, of Barangay Greater Fairview, died after being shot by Rodrigo Vinson Jr., who surrendered after the incident, which occurred at the compound of Flos Carmeli School at past 7 a.m.
Security guard Enrique Sibonga told police he heard a gunshot from the school’s garbage room. When he checked, he found Vinson holding his gun.
Sibonga said Vinson told him he caught Dulo in the act of stealing cable wires. The suspect claimed the boy attempted to stab him. He sustained a stab wound in the right arm allegedly inflicted by the boy.
The bread knife allegedly used by Dulo, who was shot in the head, was found at the crime scene.
The boy’s relatives said the victim could not have stolen from the school as he had been an errand boy of Vinson.
